MESSAGE TO NEW JOINS........
Thank you for your interest in the Young Marines program. If you would like to be placed on a list for an upcoming Recruit Training please contact us and follow the instructions on the later half of this page. All youth must turn 8 yrs of age before Recruit Training begins. Dates will be posted as they become available.
The Yuma Young Marines are a local Young Marines unit, boys and girls age 8 to 18. They undergo a minimum of 26-hour orientation program, generally spread out over several weekly meetings. This orientation program is affectionately called "Recruit Training." The youth learn general subjects such as history, customs and courtesies, close order drill, physical fitness, and military rank structure. After graduating from Young Marines "Recruit Training", the youth have the opportunity to learn additional skills, earn rank, wear the Young Marines uniform and work toward ribbon awards. Young Marines earn ribbons for achievement in areas such as leadership, community service, swimming, academic excellence, first aid, and drug resistance education (DDR).
All interested parties are encouraged to contact our unit Adjutant, Mrs. Jennifer Certain, @ firstname.lastname@example.org or our unit Commander, Ms. Eleanor Sayles, @ email@example.com. We invite you to visit our Yuma Young Marines during public events. All events will be posted on the Calendar page. Unit meetings are closed to the public for instructional purposes. An origination fee of $150.00 is due at signup and includes YM Uniform, Boots, Patches, Guidebook, and YM National Shirt. These items will be issued upon Recruit Graduation as these items are Earned not Given. Any/all monies pertaining to Recruit signup are nonrefundable. We require a current sports physical, copies of medical insurance, birth certificate, and SSI card. Young Marine applications can be downloaded from our National website library @ youngmarines.com.
